Chapter 2

ONE WEEK

How scary, I have one week left. I have 4 days left at work and its just scarly close. I think I have everything now and its just a case of packing and removing all traces of myself from the house. I think my mum's really looking forward to some space.

But I have my leaving party to look forward to, its turned into a weekend long event so bring on the beer. The likly hood is that t his will be my last entry, and the next one will be from Oz, in the hot summer then. how scary! And so the cronicles really begin.

Chapter 3

So, less than 24 hours till I fly. I still havnt finished packing but my bag is about 15Kg, so it could be worse. Its scary that all my stuff is in that bag. SO today I did my last trip to town, bout a few things got some pictures printed and generally thought how little I will miss brum.

So im off at 7ish tomorrow and then the real adventure begins. What am i gonna do for 24hours on a plane?!

Anyway wish me luck, and ill see you on the other side!

Im In SYDNEY

well ive made it. Its weired to think this is my home for the next few months but it is. The flight was fine, mum, take the stop over and have an isle seast, the view isint that good anyway. I have never felt so sore in my life! But is good Ive got a bit of home cooking should I need it and, well, im in sydney.

Because my flight was 1 1/2 hours late I had to get a taxi/bus thing, a little doddgy but it got me here. And reception closed at 9 so i was locked out and had to wait (fortunatly not long) for someone comming in. But im here its basic, but am about to ring round some flat shares, mainly by bondi beach. Im looking to do my alchol certificate thing which takes aday and am off to the pool later looking for work there. So all is good. Im also going to get a sim card today so ill put that number up here later so everyone can get in touch.

I think thats it for now. But al least im here. just so you all know its gonna rain later here ive got another week of spring before the 30 degree heat! enjoy winter!

Sydney WOW

ok so i know this is the second entry today, but as ur all asleep
anyway it makes no difference. Ive actually seen sydney now and its
weird. Ive always wanted to do this and now i am, but it still dosent
seem to have sunk it!

So today i resisted the temptation to be a tourist and started looking
for a flat, phoning and e-mailing. Im viewing a flat tommorow morning
which looks quite good. I also started looking for work i droped a copy
of my qualifications in on the pool. The pool is like an oz version of
cocks moors with a wave machine and everything! but they didnt seem
particularly enthuastic. So ive booked to do my responsible seller of
alchol certificate on saturday and thanks to my flirting ability could
well have a couple of jobs as of sunday. I ended up wandering to the
harbour, i had to. The opera huse in person is amazing, but is
definatly better from a distance, did u know the roof is tiled? I
didnt. I had to keep checking behind be to see if it dissapeared, how
surreal. Im gonna do a tour and try to get to some shows too.

After going by there i thought id look around the area and gave a few
of the up market bars my number. But i also found this very cool
aborigional art shop where the shop guy could actually play dijerdoos (
and he went to school in Litchfield, he knew i was brummie!), it was so
sureal. Next door was a jewellery shop with 40% off and the no VAT for
travellers so i bought this beautifull opal ring for the eqivellent of
10 pounds, which is my thing for the weak. Mum be proud ive been here
almost 24 hours and still havent bought a koala, but its been a close
thing.

I wanterd up to the rocks which is where the first pubs were in oz, and
got told to ask in the irish bar for work as my accent was a selling
point, apparently the average australian cant tell the difference
between english and irish accents!

I set up an account which works in both oz and new zealand but it has a
monthly rate. oddly enough it works out cheaper than staying with HSBC,
who arnt linked to the uk so still charge me lots to move money. Also
if anyone cares, it costs to use ATM's on most accounts even if it is a
local bank. It seems really odd that something as everyday as banking
is massivly different.

My hostel is next to the cinema so i might ask the girls in my dorm who
are mainly travelling alone if they want to go to bridget jones. There
is one from Perth and another from normandy but now lives in Canerbra
oh and 2 sweeds who do their own thing. There is so much to do here,
its cool, its like home but not. I think its possible to survive. The
hardest thing is to resist the shopping, which seems cheap compared to
uk pices but when the average wage is $15 so about 5 pounds its not so
cheap. But this made me laugh-there is a bank of south wales, i was
wondering why the welsh were here, until i realised I was in the county
of new south wales. Geography never was my strong point!

I think I might go to the zoo tomorrow or bondi beach as the flat im
looking at is near there, depends on the weather as we are still
getting the odd spring storm, apparently this will continue for another
week or so. But then 30 degree heat.

Ok I think im done wittereing. Mum just to let you know they have had
all flags at half mast, The publicity is their past our heritage. It
all for poppy say, but the poppies are like the big material ones only
smaller, they pin on, but i  havent found anyone selling them.
Though one scholl in the park were all wearing them. Just thought you'd
like to know.

And so it goes

Well after a bad morning flat hunting, i went to see another flat in Darling harbour, i got very lost getting there and met an Isreli taxi driver who told me where the synagogues were, which was useful. Anyway I got to this flat, with a swimming pool, gym, juczii balcony. Id be sharing with 2 guys and 2 other girls. Bu I got there and left 6 hours later we got on quite well. They have 2 more looking round today but ill know by tonite. If I do get this flat there is plenty of floor space should anyone be able to afford air fareover for new years. in case you can, but ill know better tonite (your morning)

So this morning im doing my RSA_Responsible Seller of Alchol thing. So this afternoon im off to the bars to get me a job. i have been offfered one in the very posh opera bar, but its back of house. so If i cant get any better ill be working in sydney harbour, which isint necesserly bad. But ill see if i can get one in the rocks area first, its more like english pubs, its a nice area to be in and suprisingly safe.

Anyway im off to work. Enjoy
